Northern commander’s convoy crashed into locals The Kachin Post / July 22, 2009 A person was killed and two others were injured during the accident with Burma Army northern commander’s envoy in a village nearby Myitkyina, a capital of Kachin State in northern Burma, according to local sources.
The accident was occurred in the morning of July 21 in Naung Ta Law village while one of the northern commander Brig-Gen Soe Win’s escort vehicle crashed into locals. Villagers said an unidentified person was died on-the-spot and two others wounded were sent to a hospital in Wai Maw, a township nearby the village.
The northern commander and his convoy was en-route to a border town Pang Wa, the headquarters of New Democratic Army-Kachin (NDA-K). Local believe that the commander’s convoy was heading for meeting with NDA-K leaders.
Brig-Gen Soe Win is one of the main Burma army representatives, who is dealing with ethnic ceasefire groups in Kachin State to implement Border Guard Force (BGF). In June 2009, Zahkung Ting Ying led NDA-K already accepted its army to transform into a Border Guard Force under Burma Army.
