The Kachin Independence Organization, KIO, has launched Political Working Committee (Mungmasa Bunghkan Komiti) after six-days central committee meeting which concluded on last Saturday..
KIO believes that the political working committee intends to work closely with ruling Burmese military government and all citizens to make a room for Kachins to participate in Burma’s mainstream politic programmed by ruling junta who are marching towards discipline democracy, according to KIO statement released on April 15. The political working committee is under the control of KIO’s central committee.
Gun Maw, director of KIO’s Department of Strategic Studies, said the political body will also take a task to steer the organization’s political strategy due to the given situation.
KIO adds ten more central committee members and shuffle the position of Vice Chief of Staff of Kachin Independence Army. Hpunggan Zau Nan becomes new Vice Chief of Staff and Zawng Buk Htan, former Vice Chief of Staff, becomes the head of KIO’s Agriculture and Forestry Conservation Department.
