KNO Denounced Junta’s Killings January 07, 2006

Overseas based Kachin National Organization, KNO, has condemned the abrupt killing of Burma Army soldier’s killing of five Kachin Independence Organization’s members on January 2nd 2006 in northern Burma.
“We, the Kachin National Organization strongly condemn the recent killings and urged all the international communities to support the cause of ethnic nationalities in Burma,” said the organization’s statement released on Wednesday.
Five office staffs of KIO’s Muse Township office were gun downed by Burma Army troops led by Maj. Hla Moe of No. (68) Light Infantry Battalion stationed in Lashio, Northern Shan State. This is the second times Burma Army unilaterally killed KIO soldiers since 2001, even though both parties reached ceasefire agreement.
KNO call Kachin organizations and individuals to condemn Burmese Junta’s violation of ceasefire agreement, to urge KIO/ KIA to withdraw sham National Convention and to take immediate action against Burmese military government by UN Security Council.
Meanwhile, members of KNO are organizing to demonstrate infront of the Burmese Embassy in London on January 10 (58 anniversary of Kachin State Day) to condemn junta’s violation of ceasefire agreement with KIO.
KNO was founded in 1999 by overseas Kachins.
